LESSON 1: CLASS STRUCTURE
The Film & Photography SAED Class is proudly facilitated by Jomo Resource Center; a reputable EduTech Firm dedicated to moving learning from the classroom to people’s homes and conveniences through the power of modern technology and mobile Gadgets. With over 58 corporate, management, business, leadership, and Career courses, the firm is revolutionarising the process of knowledge and skill acquisition by providing training needs at individuals pace and place.
The Film & Photography SAED Class is a dynamic class functioning as both an in-camp training class and a publicity team for the SAED branch. In partnership with the ICT SAED class, the class manages SAED Facebook pages and YouTube channel by publishing real-time contents from SAED in-camp activities. Through its projects and exhibition, the class also provide customized print media items like Banner, Jotter, File Folder, Frames etc. designed to promote the SAED initiative, mark important events of the scheme or celebrate outstanding camp officials.
As a SAED in-camp training class, the Film & Photography Class is designed to achieve the following objectives:
- Provide a bounding and collaborating opportunities for Corps Photo/Video Content enthusiasts, both beginners and experts for the purpose of inspiration and tech career exploration.
- To provide participating corps members the opportunity to learn basic photographic and videographic skills.
- To teach participating Corps Members how to make Photo Enlargements and turn it into a side-hustle
SUB-UNITS:
The Class will be divided into three units. This is to ensure better utilisation of the little time we have. Each member is required to choose a unit that better fits into their aspirations. However, general classes will still be held on major subjects of the class but to ensure efficiency and specialisation, the following units will be maintained:
- Photography Unit: Shall be peopled by members of the class who has strong interest in creative photo shots and photo editing. This unit shall be responsible for; snapping of photograph for all uses including personal projects, and editing of photograph using mobile applications and Photoshop software. The projects to be executed will include; Daily Photograph from other SAED classes, Photograph from Funding options and Exhibition and shall be headed by the Chief Photographer.
- Recording Unit: Shall be peopled by members of the class who has strong interest in video recording, broadcasting and standing before the camera. The projects to be executed will include; SAED Documentary, Camp Tour Video, and ShareMyStory episodes. Shall be headed by the Head of Recording.
- Video Editing Unit: Shall be peopled by members of the class with strong interest in video editing. The unit shall edit all video contents recorded by the Recording Unit and shall be headed by the Chief Editor.
FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
- Instructor(s): Instructor(s) of the class is a (are) staff of Jomo Resource Center who is (are) certified to be an experts in the various subjects and deem fit to lead all participants towards the actualization of the objectives of the class.
- The Class Governor: The Class Governor shall be appointed by the Lead-Instructor or nominated by members of the class and shall be responsible for the general administration of the class. In specific terms, he/she shall:
- coordinate the setup of the class or pre-class arrangements,
- ensure daily attendance,
- ensure all members of the class carryout their online registration,
- disseminate information, and where necessary, assign new members to a Break-out Class and
- coordinate exhibition & collection of personal project.
- Submit a general report of the class to the lead-instructor.
- For ease of access, his/her photograph, personal phone & whatsapp contacts would be published on the learning portal of the class.
- WhatsApp Groups: To ease communication and bonding for all members of the class, this class shall maintain a general WhatsApp group. Members can join these groups by clicking on the appropriate buttons from the learning portal. Once in the group, members should introduce themselves, their course of study and existing skill or career.
- Break-Out Group: Each unit of this class will may be divided into three (3) or more Breakout Classes depending on the number of participants. This is to ease the process of daily Hands-on exercises and ensure efficiency of the training by bringing the class closer to every member of the class. Each Breakout Group would be led by a member of the the class who will help/lead other members to actualise daily objectives/hands-on exercise.
- Corps Instructors: As directed by the National Headquarters of the Scheme, Corps instructors shall be appointed by the Instructor(s) to administer various subjects of the class. Corps Instructors shall strictly be appointed on the basis of their expertise and experience on the subject they are mandated to teach. Any member of the class with requisite knowledge, experience and willingness can be appointed to teach or assist in the process. All Corps Instructors who judiciously carryout their role will receive a Commendation Letter from Jomo Resource Center.
- Head of Assignment: Each Unit of the Class will be directly administered by the various heads of Assignment (Chief Photographer, Head of Recording, & Chief Editor respectively) who shall report directly to the Class Governor and the instructor(s). He/she shall:
- be responsible for administering daily attendance,
- collaborate with instructor(s) to form and manage Break-out groups,
- receive and document contribution for personal and group projects,
- document all members of the class who subscribe for CMP and
- submit report to the class Rep.
- Project: The class will be brought to a close via an exhibition of visual and physical items that represent the lessons covered during the training. Such items are divided into Group and Personal items. Group items are projects executed on-behalf of the class, tailored to publicise the SAED initiative and its activities; all members of the class are required to make a contribution of five hundred (N500) each to this effect. Personal projects are optional, customised for individual members of the class who can afford it and they include; Congratulatory Jotter at N1, 000 and Photo Enlargements ranging from N3,500 to N5,500 depending on the size.
- Exhibition: All group and personal projects will be displayed for exhibition on the appointed date as the State Coordinator in the company of the A.D SAED and other camp officials will be coming around for inspection. A member of the class will be appointed to address the officials during this occasion.
- Certificate of Participation: Members of the class who participated actively in the training, passes all their tests and enrol for the Corps Mentorshp Programme (CMP) will be issued a Certificate of Participation by Jomo Resource Center. This certificate is free of charge, members of the class can’t and should not make any payment for this certificate.
