HANDS-ON EXERCISE
The following hands-on exercises are designed to assist you in practising the various lessons in this section. Where constituted, you’re encouraged to carryout this exercises in groups for collaboration and effective results.
Exercise 1: Basic Text Formatting in Microsoft Word

- Objective: Learn to format text using various features in Microsoft Word.
- Instructions:
- Open Microsoft Word and create a new document.
- Type a paragraph of text.
- Change the font type to “Arial” and the font size to “14”.
- Apply bold, italic, and underline to different parts of the text.
- Change the font color to blue and highlight a sentence with yellow.
- Save the document as “FormattedText.docx”.
- Share a screenshot of your work on the SAED Facebook page and with your personal remarks.
Exercise 2: Creating and Formatting a Table in Microsoft Word

- Objective: Understand how to create and format tables in Microsoft Word.
- Instructions:
- Open a new document in Microsoft Word.
- Insert a table with 4 columns and 5 rows.
- Enter sample data into the table, such as names, ages, and occupations.
- Apply a table style from the “Table Design” tab.
- Merge the cells in the first row to create a table header and type “Sample Data”.
- Change the shading of the header row to a different color.
- Save the document as “Formatted Table.docx”.
- Share a screenshot of your work on the SAED Facebook page and with your personal remarks.
